First of all, you have to remove your memory card from your psp if you want to keep your files. And as for the PSP GO you can Transfer your files to your PC.

Step two: Go to Settings and than System Settings after that Restore Default Settings. Than tab yes an next next till your PSP restarts.
After that put your memory card back and as for the PSP GO transfer your files back to your PSP.
